Who we are
Paddy O'Keeffe's is situated in Gattabawn, Gneeveguilla in the East Kerry countryside between Rathmore, Killarney, Glenflesk and Scartaglen. In business for over 120 years and family run for four generations, our focus has always been to serve the needs of our customers in the local communities and beyond.
What we do
Paddy O'Keeffe's is rightly famous for our broad range of stock. From foundation steel to attic insulation, from eggs to chicken feed, from matches to chimney flues, from a rattle to a racer, and from a hacksaw to a tank of oxygen gas, and much, much more, Paddy O'Keeffe's has almost everything. There are lots of items of interest to children, parents, and grand-parents, so the whole family can shop together. With our ample free parking and friendly, knowledgeable staff, everyone can enjoy a relaxed shopping experience, and we're open late every weekday and for all of Saturday.
Established in 1893 as a grocery, animal feed provider, and as a collection agency for butter and eggs for Cork's market, the business has expanded over the intervening decades to encompass sales of hardware and tools, farming equipment, home, auto, and garden, work wear and footwear, construction materials, electrical, plumbing, paint, fuels, and toys and bicycles. We have sold bicycles to three generations of some families. We have redeveloped our business a few times during our history, most recently to our current building in 2003.
The local community
Being on the borders of Kilcummin, Gneeveguilla, Glenflesk, Scartaglen, and Currow, we are very involved in Community Alert groups, sports clubs, parish and school activities, and local charitable events.
The Topline group
We joined the Ireland’s largest hardware buying group, Topline in 2005, and this has enabled us to give our customers better value in an expanded range of hardware, household goods, tools, and more, while remaining independently owned and operated.
